LAKE CHARLES - Authorities in Lake Charles say four men posing as business owners scammed several people out of more than $10,000 through a card game.

The Calcasieu Parish sheriff said the men disguised themselves as business owners and contacted several small businesses about constructing a building in Lake Charles. The men scheduled meetings at several hotels and, under the pretense of waiting for others, started playing a "'friendly game of cards" with them.

At the end of the game, the victims were told they had to pay up. Sheriff Tony Mancuso said the men went with their victims to banks to collect.

The sheriff said four victims have come forward and authorities suspect others may have been scammed.

All four suspects face felony theft charges.
