$4.1M spent on TV ads in Louisiana runoff election so far
BATON ROUGE - Spending on TV political ads in Louisiana's runoff campaign has topped $4 million, with more than a week remaining before the Nov. 21 election.
An analysis of ad spending released Thursday by the Center for Public Integrity shows nearly all the TV campaign advertising dollars, about $3.7 million, has been spent on the governor's race between Democrat John Bel Edwards and Republican David Vitter.
Governor's race spending is nearly evenly split between candidates and outside political groups. Edwards has outspent Vitter so far, pouring about $1.1 million into TV ads, compared to $800,000 for Vitter.
About $23.8 million has been spent on TV campaign advertising in Louisiana this year.
The Center for Public Integrity analyzed data from Kantar Media/CMAG, a media tracking firm. These figures cover ads aired through Monday.
