3-year-old in hospital after being accidentally shot
BENTON - A 3-year-old boy remains in the hospital after he was accidentally shot Monday evening.
Bossier Parish sheriff's deputies say the shooting happened about 6 p.m. off Scarborough Road northeast of Benton.
Deputies say a .22 caliber rifle that was propped against a sliding glass door fell and discharged when another child inside the house attempted to open the door. The victim was struck once.
A spokesman for Bossier sheriff's office says the toddler was airlifted to LSU Hospital in Shreveport where he is listed in stable condition.
Authorities ruled the shooting accidental. No charges have been filed.
