A former employee of Louisiana's transportation department and two former employees of a contractor on a $72 million highway project have been sentenced to prison for their roles in a bribery scheme.

Former state employee, Jeffery Martin Bentley, was sentenced to five years in prison.

The contractor's former employees, Albert Andre Jr. and Jason Adrian Guy were sentenced to 30 months and six months in prison.

Bentley was the project engineer for a project to widen and improve Interstate 10 in Jefferson Parish.

The defendants pleaded guilty to charges they participated in a scheme to inflate invoices for pipe cleaning work and split the profits.
