3 booked in fatal ATV hit-and-run
NEW ORLEANS - New Orleans police say they've arrested three people in connection with a hit-and-run accident in which a stolen ATV hit and killed a 37-year-old woman.
Police say 29-year-old Darrin Smith was booked Wednesday with manslaughter in the July 27 death of Daphne Cola. They say 25-year-old Sadie Brown and 26-year-old Matthew Cousan both have been booked with accessory to manslaughter.
It was not clear whether they had attorneys.
A police news release says investigators believe Smith drove the ATV, Brown was his passenger, and Cousan helped her leave.
Police say the rider and passenger walked away after the ATV ran out of control on North Claiborne Avenue, hit Cola and a parked car, and flipped.
Smith and Brown also were booked with possessing stolen property and Cousan with obstructing justice.
