"24 Years of Coat Distribution"
Thursday morning's 30 degree low marked the coldest this season. As noted in previous columns, school counselors inform us that some kids wear a Pat's Coat for Kids-coat to school in August. Without home air conditioning, some children don a coat to adjust to the change and shed them once acclimated to the classroom. Today, from 5 AM until Noon, we will distribute 8,300 coats to kids identified by 177 school counselors. Thanks to our very first sponsor, Coldwell Banker One. John O. Hearin and Mike Breaux from PODS stored coats and Neighbor's Federal Credit Union, EMR Recycling and St. Vincent De Paul contributed their services. No amount was too small as our contributions soared to $110,000. For 24 years we've kept kids warm during the cold winter months.
