21-year-old killed in Ascension crash
GONZALES - Troopers say a 21-year-old man from Gonzales was killed in a crash on US Hwy 61 south of Hwy 621 in Ascension Parish.
Jason Williams, 24, was driving south on US Hwy 61 around 9:30 p.m. Friday when his car ran off the roadway and struck a culvert killing front seat passenger, Dylan Martin, 21, according to Louisiana State Police.
Troopers believe Martin was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Williams was restrained but was taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries.
State Police charged Williams with careless operation and believe impairment could be a possible factor in the crash.
