PLAQUEMINE - Authorities say a joint effort between law enforcement agencies in three parishes has resulted in the arrest of a man suspected of robbing multiple banks.

Authorities said 20-year-old Robert Ledet Jr. was arrested Tuesday on charges of armed robbery and attempted armed robbery.

According to the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office, Ledet was responsible for committing bank robberies in Iberville and West Feliciana Parishes, as well as attempted armed robberies in Ascension Parish.

The sheriff's office says Ledet was fingered as suspect after the bank robberies occurred. Law enforcement kept an eye on him and he was arrested in Ascension Parish after he cased other banks in the area. The previous robberies occurred in White Castle and St. Francisville within the past week.

Police say shots were fired during the St. Francisville robbery, however no injuries were reported in the course of the crimes.

Authorities say it was a joint arrest with the FBI, Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office, Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, West Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Office, State Police Crime Lab, St. Francisville Police Department, and White Castle Police Department.
