20-year-old arrested for attempted murder with a kitchen knife

BATON ROUGE - A 20-year-old man was charged with attempted first degree murder after stabbing two men with a long kitchen knife.

The incident occurred Sunday when Elvin Irias stabbed both 37-year-old Santos Nabarro and 28-year-old Denis Alemal with the long knife.

Both men were taken to a hospital with life threatening injuries.

After being arrested, Irias claimed that he had stabbed the victims out of self-defense.

Irias was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for attempted first degree murder.
