PONCHATOULA - Two teenagers face charges after a Tangipahoa Parish sheriff's deputy noticed they were driving an ATV that did not have a key in the ignition, indicating that it may have been stolen.
18-year-old Jacob McMorris was booked Thursday on a charge of possession of stolen property and driving an off-road vehicle on a roadway.
A 17-year-old boy was booked with possession of stolen property.
The sheriff's office says the teenagers told the deputy that they had borrowed the ATV from a friend and were riding around.
Within a few moments, however, the deputy determined the ATV had been reported stolen out of Washington Parish.
Authorities say the ATV was seized and the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office was notified of the vehicle's recovery.
