SHREVEPORT - Two teenage girls were arrested following a kidnapping that involved a 5-year-old.

Shreveport police responded after learning the toddler had been checked out without authorization from Werner Park Elementary School.

The 5-year-old's estranged sister, along with her friend were responsible for taking the child out of school.

Acting on leads, detectives were able to locate the trio hours later unharmed.

The 5-year-old was reunited with his mother and the two teenage girls were taken into custody charged with aggravated kidnapping.

The investigation is ongoing.
