ST. MARTINVILLE - Investigators with the St. Martin and Iberville Parish sheriff's offices have arrested two men in 13 camp burglaries in the Atchafalaya Basin.

Authorities arrested 45-year-old Tracey Lee Burgess of Gross Tete and 23-year-old Steven Paul Thibodeaux of Plaquemine on 13 counts of criminal trespass, 13 counts of simple burglary and one count of second-degree kidnapping.

The St. Martin deputies say investigators learned that Burgess' ex-wife was held against her will for several days during the burglaries.

The burglaries occurred in the Lake Chicot, Phillips Canal and Bayou Sorrel areas.

Maj. Ginny Higgins, spokeswoman for the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office, said the burglars stole tools, clothing and an ice chest believed to be valued at about $3,000.

Investigators have recovered and returned several items.
