NEW ORLEANS - Two New Orleans police officers are undergoing surgery after being shot during a traffic stop near City Park.

Police Superintendent Ronal Serpas says two suspects were also shot Thursday morning by the officers. One suspect died at the scene and the other was wounded.

Serpas says the officers were taken to a local hospital and immediately taken into surgery.

The condition of the injured suspect is unknown.

Officers at the scene are investigating.
