2 men hospitalized after officer shoots at car
PICAYUNE, Miss. - A Thursday night fight outside a Picayune convenience store ended with two people being shot by police.
Picayune Police Deputy Chief Chad Dorn tells WLOX-TV that when officers responded, three men fled in a car.
The driver ignored orders to stop and one officer fired at the car when it drove toward police.
Police chased the car until it crashed, finding one man shot in the chest.
The driver of the car ran away, but later sought treatment for two gunshot wounds to the arm. The third man hasn't been found.
The two remained hospitalized Friday at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. No charges have been filed, and police haven't released their names.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is examining the shootings and the officer is on administrative leave.
