INDEPENDENCE - Two men are in jail in connection with a string of burglaries in Tangipahoa Parish.

The first suspect, 20-year-old Desmond Cook, was arrested shortly after deputies received a burglary call December 31st. 17-year-old Ike Strickland was arrested the next day.

Investigators say two men ran into the woods after arriving at the scene of the burglary in Independence.

Cook eventually surrendered to deputies.

Deputies believe the two are responsible for a string of burglaries in the Hammond area.

The investigation is still active. Detectives say more suspects could be arrested as well as more charges added.
