2 dead, 1 arrested after head-on crash in Ascension Parish
DONALDSONVILLE - State Police say two people are dead and another person was arrested after a deadly head-on crash on LA 1 in Ascension Parish Thursday morning.
According to Louisiana State Police, the crash happened after 6 a.m. north of LA 405. Police say 17-year-old Stormy Hunnicutt from Prairieville and 32-year-old Ashley Stevenson of Donaldsonville were killed.
Police arrested 21-year-old Brennan Simoneaux from St. Amant.
Investigators believe Simoneaux was traveling north of LA 1 in a pickup truck. When he crossed the center lane to pass another vehicle, he struck another car driven by 28-year-old Jasmine Allen of Baton Rouge.
Investigators say Hunnicutt was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle. The Ascension Parish Coroner’s Office later pronounced her dead at the scene.
Stevenson was wearing a seatbelt but still suffered severe injuries. She was transported to a local hospital where she later died.
Allen was wearing a seatbelt and suffered moderate injuries.
