A St. Charles Parish sheriff's deputy and a tax preparer have been indicted on charges they used the identities of prison inmates to fraudulently obtain more than $800,000 in tax refunds.
The indictment accuses the deputy, Warren LeBeauf, of running inmates' names through a law-enforcement database and providing their personal data to Tamara Scott-Landry so she could file fraudulent tax returns under their names.
