WALKER - Police caught two people in a minivan who ran into the side of a church Wednesday afternoon in Livingston Parish. They were reportedly fleeing from the scene of a hit and run.

Authorities arrested Vanessa Whittington of Walker and Orrin Thomas of Bogalusa.

Whittington is charged with hit and run and failure to maintain control while Thomas is charged with failure to wear a seatbelt in connection with the accident.

The two were in a minivan when they allegedly backed into an SUV at Murphy's Express on Walker South Road.

Police say the two then left the scene, headed north, and crossed the railroad tracks while speeding.

Whittington then lost control of the van, ran off the road and hit the side of the Unity Church of God on Walker North Road.

The two were not seriously injured.
