2 Bossier Parish schools buildings to close
BENTON- Two Bossier Parish school facilities will close at the end of this school year in an effort to cut costs.
The Times reports the Bossier Parish School Board unanimously approved the closure of Charlotte Mitchell Education Center and Bossier Learning Center -- the district's adult education program. The move will result in about $1.7 million savings for Bossier, but will not require any layoffs.
Superintendent D.C. Machen said Charlotte Mitchell's alternative school classes will be housed alongside the programs at Butler Educational Center in the fall while Bossier Learning Center students can look for a similar adult education course at Bossier Parish Community College or Louisiana Technical College.
