2 bodies found in burning Opelousas home
OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) - Two men have been found dead inside a burning house in Opelousas, the victims of a double shooting.
Police Chief Perry Gallow said the bodies had been soaked in accelerant and set ablaze in an apparent attempt to cover up the slayings.
Local reports say firefighters discovered the bodies Tuesday night while fighting a house fire. Gallow said autopsy results are pending.
The victims have been identified as 36-year-old Desmond Lewis and 49-year-old Gary Lazard.
Authorities said Lewis owned the house and Lazard was renting space.
The state fire marshal is assisting in the investigation.
