2 arrests made in Kentwood meth lab bust
KENTWOOD - Deputies arrested two people on drug charges, placed their children in state custody and disassembled a methamphetamine lab after investigating a residence in Kentwood.
Deputies arrested Sonya Boney, 27, and Adam Thibodeaux, 32, Monday on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine and operating a meth lab after the couple gave them permission to search the residence.
Deputies said they immediately noticed a strong chemical odor typically associated with the production of methamphetamine as they entered the residence on South River Rd. They also reported seeing unlabeled prescription narcotics on a countertop in the home.
Narcotics agents confirmed meth was present, along with unidentified prescription drugs, a loaded handgun and precursor materials used to make meth.
Two children were in the home at the time of the search, and they were placed under state custody until the investigation is complete.
