2 arrested in Hammond apartment burglary
HAMMOND - Sheriff's deputies in Tangipahoa Parish said they arrested two men in connection with an apartment burglary in Hammond on Wednesday.
Witnesses said three men exited an apartment on Honeysuckle Drive and got into a vehicle as deputies were on their way to the scene.
One of the witnesses followed the car as it left the scene, traveling through Natalbany and back into Hammond onto North Oak Street where officers with the Hammond Police Department stopped the suspects.
Police said four individuals jumped out of the vehicle and ran, but officers were able to catch two of them before they could flee.
Delmarcus Maryland, 25, and Keundrae Roberts, 23, were detained by police, and TPSO detectives found several stolen items from the reported Honeysuckle Drive burglary when they searched the vehicle.
Maryland was charged with one count of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and a failure to appear warrant and Roberts was charged with two outstanding warrants, according to deputies.
Detectives are still looking to identify the other two subjects in the burglary and asked anyone with information to contact the Tangiaphoa Parish Sheriff's Office at (985) 345-6150.
