LIVINGSTON - Two people were arrested in connection with using a scam to steal from a resident in Satsuma.
Johnny Hickman, 55, and Vicki Garces, 50, are accused of stealing a truck and a large amount of cash from the victim, according to Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard. The pair promised to deliver construction equipment they claimed was housed out of state.
Garces was arrested in East Baton Rouge Parish on Sept. 5, but deputies say she refused to tell them where Hickman was.
During the investigation, detectives learned Hickman was also wanted in 3 other states, including Alabama, Arizona and Florida. A tip led them to Nashville, where Hickman was found and arrested. The stolen vehicle was also recovered.
Hickman is currently being held in Tennessee on charges of assault of an officer, theft of property and being a fugitive from justice. He is awaiting extradition back to Louisiana, where he will be charged with theft by fraud and felony theft.
Garces is charged with theft by fraud. Her bond is set at $100,000.
