CHARLOTTE - Cam Newton led a game-winning, 65-yard drive with :28 remaining to seal a Panthers victory over the Saints 17-13.

The Saints did not only start a new placekicker on the road with the NFC South Division in the balance, New Orleans will also start a rookie left tackle who's never taken an offensive snap in the NFL.

Drew Brees threw for threw for 281 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions on the day.

The Saints held a 13-10 lead with two minutes left in the game but chose to run the ball three straight times to burn Carolina's timeouts.

The strategy didn't produce a first down to seal the game, and Newton found Domenik Hixon in the end zone for a 14-yard touchdown pass.
