19-year-old drowning victim's body found in False River
OSCAR - Sheriff's deputies said dive teams have found the body of Marlon Sharper, 19, who fell into the False River in Pointe Coupee Parish Monday afternoon.
Capt. Steve Juge with the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff's Office said a the man fell into the river at the Old Bonaventure's Landing around 4:30 p.m.
Sharper jumped into the water to cool off after he and his older brother made repairs to a nearby bar. His brother said he noticed Sharper struggling and tried to save him, but was unsuccessful.
Juge said dive teams searched the area and soon located his body.
An autopsy will be needed to confirm the cause of death.
