BATON ROUGE - Police closed a portion of Highland Road in southern Baton Rouge after an 18-wheeler carrying a hazardous chemical turned over.
Baton Rouge Fire spokesperson Curt Monte said the driver tried to turn onto Highland from Gardere, but took it too sharp and the truck went into the ditch.
The truck was carrying ethylene glycol. BRFD says there was a very small spill of the chemical, which has been stopped.
The biggest impacts from it will be environmental and no people were in danger from the spill.
Highland around the wreck site will be closed for several hours as crews bring in another truck to offload the chemical.
