BATON ROUGE- The driver of an 18-wheeler, that lost control smashing into four vehicles and a tire shop, had a seizure while driving, according to police on the scene.
The rig, which was hauling fresh cabbage to New Orleans, veered off Airline Highway just south of Florida Boulevard, crashing into the Tire Kingdom auto shop nearby.
"We picked up on this roaring sound and it was coming with a lot of turbulence, and we all stood up to try and comprehend what was coming at us and lo and behold, we looked off to the window there it was, this big rig had made an impact," said Charles Jefferson, who's Chevy Avalanche was knocked off the racks by the semi.
"I didn't realize how bad it was until I got here," said Austin Corona, the district manager of the tire shop, "I was somewhat in a state of shock, it destroyed the foundation, destroyed two employees vehicles, destroyed two customers vehicles inside the building."
A Tire Kingdom employee was inside one of the vehicles the truck hit, but airbags went off in the car. He and the driver were released from the hospital earlier today.
