PORT ALLEN - Two 18-wheelers collided on I-10 eastbound causing a major backup just around 6 p.m. today.
State Police say a box truck rear-ended a tanker truck that was stopped in traffic on I-10 eastbound at LA 415. The box truck caught fire, and both drivers had non-life threatening injuries.
Hazardous materials units were called out to the scene, but Trooper Doug Cain said there was not a threat of any leaks at this time.
The crash had shut down all lanes of traffic for a time, but the westbound lanes are back open. The eastbound lanes of I-10 are still closed, and being diverted onto LA 77 to Highway 190.
