Update: State Police identified the 17-year-old girl as Ramie Martinez from Greenwell Springs. Cherish McConn is also charged with deliquency of a minor, no driver's license, and no seat belt.
A 17-year-old girl is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Denham Springs.
The crash happened on Lockhart Road, near Cockerham Road. State police say 26-year-old Cherish D. McConn was impaired and driving a 2000 Chevy Cavalier eastbound on Lockhart when she crossed the center line and struck the side of a 1994 GMC truck. The driver of the truck swerved in an attempt to avoid the car.
The two people in the truck received minor injuries but were not transported to a hospital.
McConn had two 17-year-old female passengers. One of the passengers received minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. The other passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. McConn received minor injuries and was also transported to a hospital. Troopers say she will be arrested when she is released.
McConn will be charged with reckless operation, negligent injury, DWI, and vehicular homicide. LSP did not yet know her blood alcohol level.
