17-person board to select SU's next chancellor
BATON ROUGE- Southern University is beginning the process to hire a new chancellor.
Seventeen people are on the committee, lead by SU System Board of Supervisors member Murphy F. Bell Jr. and Monique Guillory-Winfield, SU System vice president for academic and student affairs.
The hiring group is made up of board members, faculty and staff, a student, alumni, and community members.
"The SU System is committed to conducting an open and successful search to find a new chancellor for the Baton Rouge campus. We are confident that this strong and diverse committee will recommend the best possible candidate for our flagship campus," System President Ronald Mason said Friday.
The position replaces James Llorens who could not workout a new contract with the board.
