16-year-old accused of beating, attempted rape
BATON ROUGE – A 16-year-old boy was arrested after police said an officer patrolling in north Baton Rouge interrupted him beating and trying to rape a woman.
Officer Douglas Chutz was patrolling in the 1300 block of Florida around 12:45 a.m. Monday when someone told him they saw a woman being beaten nearby.
Chutz drove to N. 14th Street and said he saw the boy beating a woman on the ground and trying to pull her pants down. When the boy saw Chutz he took off running, but was caught by the officer a short distance from the scene.
The victim told police she had witnessed the boy beating another woman and had tried to intervene, when the boy turned on her and knocked her to the ground and tried to rape her.
Both the victim and 16-year-old were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries. The boy was placed in the Juvenile Detention Center on charges of attempted forcible rape and resisting an officer.
