15 students hurt after bus, car head-on wreck
DENHAM SPRINGS - Sheriff's deputies said a head-on collision between a car and a school bus sent more than a dozen people to the hospital Tuesday morning in Livingston Parish.
Deputies said it happened around 8 a.m. on Brown Road and Brandon Street near Denham Springs. They said 15 elementary school students had minor injuries.
Investigators said the bus was headed to Juban Parc Elementary with 31 students on board when the wreck happened, and the 15 hurt students were taken to the hospital to be checked out as a precaution. The rest were taken to school and their parents notified to come pick them up.
The car's driver was also hurt and deputies said he was in serious condition at a local hospital.
Investigators have yet to release more information about how the wreck happened.
