BATON ROUGE - A 12-year-old boy is recovering from severe head injuries after his family said he was attacked by a group of teens at a high school football game.

The incident happened at Scotlandville Magnet High School, last Friday night.

"It all happened so quick and it all sounded so bad, so when he fell I thought he was shot and I didn't know what to do," said Yolanda Robinson, the victim's aunt.

Baton Rouge Police confirmed Quinton Robinson was attacked by a group of teenagers, but they have not identified any suspects.

"From his head to his face, there's five different fractures," said Candi Robinson, Quinton's mother, "his right eye was completely closed, he had blood on his brain, this is a 12-year-old boy."

East Baton Rouge Superintendent Warren Drake visited the boy this afternoon at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, where he was in intensive care, and says he's been meeting with other departments to see what extra steps they can take to prevent future attacks.

"I've met with our security team and our maintenance crews," said Drake, "we're going to make sure we have all lighting properly taken care of, and we did, and we also have 12 security officers at the football game."

As Quinton's family waits for answers, they hope this kind of attack never happens again.

"Because other people have children and this could have been their child, my child was closer than death," said Candi Robinson.

As of this evening, Quinton remains in the hospital but was removed from the intensive care unit.
