LIVINGSTON – Deputies in Livingston Parish say an arrest in a stolen trailer investigation led to authorities busting a multi-parish crime ring operating in the Baton Rouge area.

Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard said the trailer, containing sentimental items untouched by August's flooding, was recovered and most of the contents returned.

“When looking into this case, though, we learned that this crime was part of a bigger story,” Ard said. “Acting on a tip from burglary detectives with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, a number of agencies teamed to investigate a group of individuals responsible for not only this crime – but several others.”

Ard said 12 individuals have been charged with a string of crimes, including theft, across several parishes. The investigation is still ongoing and more charges and arrests are possible.

One of the suspects, 35-year-old Cody Terry was charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, reckless operation, driving without a license and failure to register a motor vehicle earlier this week. Terry was driving eastbound on I-12 when he rear ended an SUV causing the vehicle to crash into a concrete barrier.

While exact charges have not been released at this time, Ard reports that the following individuals were arrested:
