The Coast Guard says at least one person is missing in high floodwaters as remnants from Hurricane Karl continues to cause widespread problems up and down the Texas coast.
Coast Guard Lt. Mary Arvidson says search teams were combing the swollen Oso Creek in Corpus Christi early Monday for the motorist swept away in the flooding.
She says the driver called 911 for help after the rushing water picked up his small car while crossing the creek.
Classes are cancelled at nearly a dozen school districts, and numerous roads are closed.
The National Weather Service says more than 7 inches of rainfall have been reported over a 24-hour period through early Monday in Corpus Christi and Rio Grande Valley.
