1 killed in I-10 accident near Lake Charles
LAKE CHARLES - State police say an accident east of Lake Charles has left one person dead.
It happened Wednesday night on Interstate 10 when a Mazda traveling eastbound sideswiped another vehicle then hit a guardrail.
A passenger in the Mazda, 24-year-old Harmonie Roshell Frazier of Welsh, was ejected and died at the scene.
The driver, 21-year-old Jermaine Quinn Pattum of Jennings, was hospitalized with minor injuries.
State police said they will charge Pattum with vehicular homicide, driving while intoxicated and careless operation.
The driver in the vehicle that was sideswiped was not injured.
