1 dead, 1 injured in Slidell house fire
SLIDELL - St. Tammany Parish firefighters are investigating a two-alarm fire that destroyed a home in Slidell, killing one woman and injuring the person who tried to save her.
The victims' identities have not been released.
Fire district spokesman Chad Duffaut says neighbors and a passer-by tried to rescue the woman trapped in the home while they waited for firefighters to arrive. One neighbor received minor burns and was transmitted to the hospital for treatment. Duffaut says two other occupants of the home safely escaped the blaze.
