WHO DAT! Unsettled weather expected this week

Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints...Super Bowl XLIV Champs!!!!!

WHO DAT!!!

Short Term:  It is a mostly clear and chilly start to this Monday as we celebrate the Saints victory!  Temperatures are in the mid 30s, so be sure to wear your warm Saints gear as you head out the door.

Clouds will increase throughout the afternoon, and that will lead to a mix of sun and clouds.  We will see warmer and more humid air today as Gulf Moisture increases.  Some showers will start to pop-up late by the evening as well ahead of our next weather-maker, a cold front with a Gulf low.  High temperatures will climb into the lower 60s.

Periods of rain and a few thunderstorms are expected tonight.  Some of the rain could become heavy at times.  Lows will be down to the lower 40s.

Week Ahead:  Unsettled weather is in store for us for the rest of the week!  The rain will continue on Tuesday morning, but it will end by the afternoon once the low and cold front move through.  Then we will see partly cloudy skies.  It will become much colder behind the front with highs only in the lower 50s.

This will make for some nice weather just in time for the 5:00 PM Saints Super Bowl Victory Parade in New Orleans!  It will be mostly to partly cloudy, but chilly with temperatures in the upper 40s at parade time.

Significantly colder air will return to South Louisiana on Tuesday night as clear skies greet us.  Low temperatures will fall to the upper 20s.  BRRR!!!!

High pressure will sit over us on Wednesday, and that will all us to have the nicest day this week.  It will be partly cloudy and cool with highs in the lower 50s.  Wednesday night will start to see the clouds increase, making it mostly cloudy.  It will be still cold with lows in the lower 30s.

Some very unsettled weather returns on Thursday.  Plenty of rain will return to the area as an area of low pressure develops off the coast of Texas once again.  The clouds will increase all day, and showers will be in the Baton Rouge area by the afternoon hours.  It will be a cold rain with temperatures in the upper 40s.

As the rain falls, it will drag some cold air down with it, and a few of the forecast models are trying to show the possibility of a rain and snow mix on Thursday night / Friday morning.  At this time, it is very hard to predict IF this will happen, but IF it does it looks like only areas north of I-10 could see this.  The best chance would be up near McComb, MS.  Lows will be in the lower 30s there, and in the mid 30s in Baton Rouge.

IF we can get the cold air to get to the I-10 corridor, then the morning commute could see a rain/snow mix for northern parts of the Baton Rouge area.  Then by mid-morning we will have all rain, and it will last throughout the day.  It will be a cold rain with high temperatures in the mid 40s.

The rain will end on Friday night, and the skies will become clear.  The temperatures will become colder with lows in the lower 30s.

Weekend Outlook:  Much nicer weather will return on Saturday as an area of high pressure moves into the Southeast U.S.  This will give us partly cloudy skies, but it will still be cool with highs in the lower 50s.  It will be mostly clear on Saturday night with lows in the upper 30s.

Partly cloudy and a tad warmer weather is in the forecast for Sunday.  High temperatures will be in the upper 50s.
