Short Term:  It is another very cold start to the day with clear skies and temperatures in the upper 30s to lower 40s.  Some areas north of Baton Rouge could also see some patchy frost.  Other areas around town may see a little fog.  You will still want to grab that warm coat as you head out the door today!

We will have a fantastic afternoon with plenty of sunshine.  The area of high pressure that has been sitting over us will be moving toward the east today.  That will bring in easterly winds over Louisiana, and these winds will help to warm us up a little.  High temperatures will climb into the upper 60s.

The skies will remain clear tonight, but it will not be as cold.  However, it will still be chilly with lows falling down to the mid 40s.

Pack The Pod:  Head out to the Wal-Mart on College Drive and drop off any gently used coats, or a cash donation to support WBRZ's Pat's Coats For Kids Campaign today.  Pat will be there all day starting at 5 AM until 6:30 PM.  Please help out with this great cause, especially with the cold weather we have been seeing lately.  Remember that there are some kids that do not have a warm coat as they stand at the bus stop!

Friday & The Weekend:  We will start Friday off with sunny skies, but it will become partly cloudy by the afternoon.  This is in response to the area of high pressure moving further to the east.  That will provide us with southeast winds, and they will start to usher in Gulf Moisture.  At the same time, an area of low pressure will be developing over Corpus Christi, TX.  This low will tap into that moisture, and rain will be developing to the southwest of Louisiana.  It will be a mild day with highs in the upper 60s.

Some showers will move into the Capital City starting on Friday night as the low moves toward the Louisiana Coast.  Low temperatures will be only falling to near 50.

The Gulf Low will move just south of the Louisiana Coast on Saturday.  It will send scattered to numerous showers over Baton Rouge, and some thunderstorms along the coast.  Rain could become heavy at times.  Temperatures will be cooler thanks to the rain with highs only climbing to the lower 60s.  The rain will end on Saturday night with partly to mostly cloudy skies.  Lows will be near 50.

The weather will improve on Sunday as the area of low pressure moves to the east.  Some clouds will stick around, so I'll call for partly cloudy skies.  It will be warmer with highs in the upper 60s.

Tropical Update:  The tropics are still looking quiet, and tropical cyclone formation is not expected through Friday.
