Short Term Forecast: We have a quiet start to this Monday after the Super Bowl. It is mostly cloudy with temperatures in the lower 40s. You will want to take that light jacket with you along with your umbrella today.
A disturbance and an area of low pressure will move across the Gulf Coast States today and tonight. This will bring us mostly cloudy skies along with isolated showers this afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 60s.
The rain will become more widespread tonight as the low moves right over Baton Rouge. Expect scattered showers with a few rumbles of thunder. Lows will be in the mid 50s.
Week Ahead: The low will move to the east of Louisiana on Tuesday and that will gradually put an end to the rain. Otherwise, we will be cloudy and warm with highs in the lower 70s. Tuesday Night will be mostly cloudy with lows in the lower 50s.
Another area of low pressure and disturbance will move across the Gulf Coast States late on Wednesday. We will be mostly cloudy during the day with scattered showers popping up by the evening. High temperatures will be in the lower 70s. Wednesday Night will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers and a few thunderstorms. Lows will be in the upper 50s.
The low will move right over Baton Rouge again on Thursday. This low will be much stronger than the one today. Therefore, we will have more widespread heavy rain along with additional thunderstorms. Highs will be in the lower 70s. The rain will slowly taper off Thursday Night into Friday Morning. Lows will be in the lower to mid 50s.
Finally some dry weather arrives on Friday. Expect partly cloudy skies with highs in the lower 70s. Friday Night will have a few clouds with lows in the lower to mid 50s.
Weekend Outlook: Right now it looks like the weekend will start out dry, but end wet. If you are headed to any Mardi Gras Parades, the weather is looking pretty good. We will be mostly cloudy on Saturday with highs in the mid 70s and lows in the mid 50s.
A cold front will move toward Louisiana on Sunday. This will keep it mostly cloudy, but it will help to set off scattered showers and thunderstorms later in the day. High temperatures will be in the mid 70s and lows in the upper 50s Sunday Night will more rain and storms.
