Happy Valentine's Day!
Short Term Forecast: We begin this Thursday with mostly clear skies and chilly temperatures in the upper 30s. Better take that coat with you this morning!
Expect the skies to clear this afternoon and that will make for a sweet forecast! High pressure will sit over us today and that will make it sunny and mild with high temperatures in the lower 60s.
If you are going out this evening it will be a little chilly so be sure to have a coat for your sweetie! Temperatures will be falling into the lower 50s. Overnight will be clear and cold with lows in the lower 40s.
Friday will be another pleasant day with mostly sunny skies and it will be a little warmer as the high pressure moves east of Louisiana. Highs will be in the upper 60s. Friday Night will be partly cloudy and there could be a few sprinkles over Southern Mississippi as a cold front moves into town. Lows will be still cold as they drop into the upper 30s.
River Flooding: Area rivers are continuing to rise from all of the rain we had since Sunday. Some flooding is expected on parts of the the Amite, Tickfaw and Tangipahoa Rivers. River Flood Warning have been issued along these rivers. Most of them will crest on Friday and Saturday. If you experienced flooding in January, then you could see flooding again. Weekend Forecast: The cold front will bring us partly cloudy skies on Saturday, but I am not expecting any rain. Some cold air will filter in behind the front, so high temperatures will only get into the mid 50s. Saturday Night will be clear and pretty cold with lows in the mid 30s. Outlying areas east and north of town could see a low near 32, so a light freeze is possible!
Sunday will be a gorgeous day with mostly sunny skies as another area of high pressure sits over Baton Rouge. Highs will be warmer as they get to the mid 60s and lows in the upper 40s.
Enjoy the sunshine and have a Happy Valentine's Day! -Dave
