Short Term Forecast: We start this Tuesday with some very unseasonably warm temperatures in the mid 60s under mostly cloudy skies.
Get ready for a very warm, humid and breeze afternoon across the Baton Rouge area. This is all in response to a strong cold front that will move through tonight. Ahead of this front we have strong southerly winds that will pump in plenty of Gulf Moisture over us. This will keep us mostly cloudy and allow for some isolated showers to pop-up with high temperatures in the upper 70s.
The weather will go downhill tonight just ahead and along the cold front. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop along a pre-frontal trough of low pressure. Some of these could be strong to severe with damaging winds and even a few tornadoes. Then late tonight and early on Wednesday Morning a squall-line of storms will move through Baton Rouge. The storms along this line could be strong to severe with a good threat of damaging winds and a few tornadoes. SPC has us in a Slight Risk for severe weather tonight. It will be warm, humid and breezy with lows in the lower 60s.
Week Ahead: Wednesday will start out with those possible strong to severe storms during the early morning hours. Once the squall-line passes through we will be left with scattered showers until about Noon. Then the cold front will move through and the skies will start to slowly clear out. High temperatures will be in the mid 60s early and then they will likely fall into the 50s by the evening. Wednesday Night will become mostly clear and MUCH COLDER with lows in the mid 30s.
Thursday and Friday will be gorgeous days as an area of high pressure builds over the Southeast U.S. Expect sunny skies with highs in the lower 60s and lows in the mid to upper 30s.
Weekend Outlook: The high pressure will move east of Louisiana by the weekend and that will allow us to warm up just a little. We will see some mostly cloudy skies on Saturday and a weak disturbance moves through. Highs will be in the mid 60s and lows in the lower 40s.
Sunday will be a pleasant day with partly cloudy skies. Highs will be in the upper 60s and lows in the mid 40s.
