Short Term Forecast: We have a mostly cloudy and quiet start to this Tuesday. It is not as cold with temperatures in the upper 40s. You will want to take you rain coat and umbrella with you as you head out the door.
It is going to be a warmer and more humid afternoon thanks to our next weather system that is forming over Texas. This area of low pressure will send us mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers with a few thunderstorms late this afternoon into the evening hours. High temperatures will be in the upper 60s.
The rain and some thunderstorms will become more widespread tonight. Some rain will become heavy at times. It will be a warm night with lows only falling to the lower 60s.
Week Ahead: The area of low pressure in South Texas will start to slowly move northeast toward the Red River. There will be a warm front that will move up from the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday. As it moves north over Baton Rouge we will become much warmer and more humid. It will also help to send us numerous showers and some thunderstorms during the day. This will not be a continuous rain event, but plan for quite a bit of rain during the day. Some of the storms could become strong at times. High temperatures will be in the mid 70s.
Wednesday Night will have more numerous showers and thunderstorms as a squall line forms along a cold front. Some of these storms could also be strong to severe. SPC has put Baton Rouge on the eastern edge of a Slight Risk for severe weather. We will stay warm and humid with lows in the mid 60s.
The cold front and squall line will move into Baton Rouge starting on Thursday Morning and the rain will last into the afternoon hours. Again, some of the storms could be strong to severe. The front is forecast to fall apart over us during the day. We will stay warm and humid with highs in the mid 70s. The rain will taper off on Thursday Night. Lows will be a little cooler as they fall to the mid 50s.
Friday will be a mainly dry day with partly cloudy skies thanks to the cold front dissipating over Louisiana. There is still a slight chance of a shower, but most of you will start to dry out. It will stay warm with highs in the lower 70s. Friday Night will be partly cloudy with lows near 60.
Weekend Forecast: More unsettled weather is on tap this weekend. Another cold front will move into Western Louisiana on Saturday. This will give Baton Rouge a mix of sun and clouds with isolated showers popping up. Highs will be in the mid 70s and lows in the lower 60s.
The cold front will slowly move into the city on Sunday. This will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be around 70. Sunday Night will have more rain and storms as the cold front slowly pushes through town. Lows will be in the lower 50s.
