Short Term Forecast: It is a cold start to this Tuesday with clear skies and temperatures in the mid 30s. You will want to take that warm coat with you as you head out the door!
A disturbance, or short wave, will move out of Texas and over Louisiana today. This will not have any rain associated with it, but it will bring us plenty of high thin clouds, or cirrus clouds. The sun will still be able to be seen through them, but it will appear somewhat overcast at times. This is what I like to called filtered sunshine. Expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies this afternoon and it will stay cool with high temperatures in the lower 60s.
The clouds will gradually decrease tonight and it will become clear after midnight. We will be quite cold again and patchy frost will be possible with low temperatures in the mid to upper 30s. You may want to cover some of your plants tonight.
Week Ahead: High pressure will remain over the Eastern U.S. and that will make for a nice Wednesday. We will be sunny, but still cool with highs in the lower 60s. Wednesday Night is going to be clear and cold with lows in the mid 30s. Some patchy frost will be possible again.
Another weak disturbance will move across Louisiana on Thursday. This will make it partly to mostly cloudy once again. Highs will be a little warmer as they climb into the mid 60s, and lows will be in the lower 40s.
That disturbance will be east of Louisiana on Friday, but we will still have some clouds sticking around. They are from some additional moisture coming up from the Gulf of Mexico. Therefore, we will be partly cloudy with highs in the upper 60s and lows will be in the lower 40s.
Weekend Forecast: We will have a wonderful weekend weather-wise! It will be partly cloudy and a little warmer each day. Highs will be in the upper 60s to around 70 on Saturday and Sunday. Low temperatures will not be as cold, but they will still be chilly in the upper 40s. Enjoy the great weather!
Tropical Outlook: Everything remains quiet and tropical cyclone formation is not expected through Wednesday.
Bundle up today and have a great one! -Dave
