Short Term: It is a MUCH colder start to the day with clear skies and temperatures in the upper 30s to lower 40s across the viewing area. Be sure to dress warmly as you head out the door!
We will have a beautiful afternoon with sunny skies, but it will remain cool. An area of high pressure will build in behind the cold front that moved through yesterday. This is providing us with the sunny skies, but also helping to draw down the colder air from the
north. High temperatures will only be in the upper 50s today!
The coldest temperatures of the season will greet us tonight! The sky will be clear, and low temperatures will fall down to the upper 30s. Some patchy frost will be possible across Southern Mississippi, the Felicianas, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, Tangipahoa, and Livingston Parishes. This would be a great night to snuggle up in front of the fireplace!
Week Ahead: After a chilly morning, we will have a pleasant afternoon on Wednesday. The skies will be sunny, but it will remain cool with highs in the lower 60s. Another very cold night is expected on Wednesday night with lows in the upper 30s once again.
Warmer weather returns on Thursday as the winds shift from the north to the east. This will also bring back some moisture to the area. That will bring in partly cloudy skies with
temperatures in the lower 70s. It will remain chilly at night with mostly clear skies and lows in the mid 40s.
On Friday, we will see the signs of our next weather-maker. An area of low pressure will be moving across South Texas and heading toward the Texas coast. This will send a few showers northward toward Louisiana. It will be a mild day with highs in the upper 60s, but still cold at night with lows in the upper 40s.
The area of low pressure will move up the Texas coast and into Louisiana on Saturday. This will send scattered to numerous showers over the Baton Rouge area. Heavy rain will be likely, but it is still too early to tell how much we will get. However, the forecast models show around and inch or more at this time. It will be a cool day due to the clouds and rain with highs in the lower 60s.
The low moves northeast out of Louisiana on Sunday, and the rain will end. We will have partly cloudy skies, and warmer temperatures in the upper 60s.
Tropical Update: We still have quiet weather throughout the tropics, and tropical cyclone formation is not expected through Wednesday.
