Short Term Forecast: We begin this Tuesday with more very muggy conditions and mostly clear skies. Temperatures are in the mid to upper 70s.
This afternoon will be just like yesterday. It is going to be hot and humid with isolated showers and thunderstorms popping up with the daytime heating along with the sea breeze. Some of the storms could be strong with heavy rain, gusty winds and frequent lightning strikes. This weather pattern is all part of the ridge of high pressure that is sitting over the Eastern U.S. There is just enough moisture in place to help give some of you the rain in the afternoon hours. High temperatures will be in the mid 90s and the heat index will be around 100 to 105 at times.
The storms will end during the evening and we will be left with partly cloudy skies tonight. It will stay very warm and steamy with lows in the mid 70s.
4th of July: Do not expect much of a change in the forecast for tomorrow. We will be hot as a firecracker with the pop-up afternoon showers and thunderstorms. You may have to run inside briefly if a storms moves over your home, but not all of you will see the rain. Highs will be in the mid 90s and lows in the mid 70s on Wednesday Night.
Rest of the Week: More of the same weather is expected on Thursday with partly cloudy skies and isolated pop-up afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Highs will remain in the mid 90s and lows in the mid 70s with mostly clear skies on Thursday Night.
The weather pattern will start to change on Friday and last through the weekend. The area of high pressure that has been sitting over the Eastern U.S. will start to move back to the west. This will allow Louisiana to be on the eastern side of the ridge and that will allow disturbances to move over the state from the north. This will increase the chance of rain starting on Friday and that will last through Sunday. We will have isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms on Friday with highs in the mid 90s and lows in the mid 70s.
Saturday and Sunday will have a greater coverage of rain. It will be partly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs will stay hot as they will be in the lower to mid 90s and lows in the lower to mid 70s.
Watch out for some storms and have a good day! -Dave
