Short Term Forecast: We begin this Friday Morning with mostly cloudy skies as some high cirrus clouds move over Baton Rouge. This is keeping us from getting too cold with temperatures in the lower 40s.
The high clouds will stick around for part of the afternoon and this will give us a mix of sun and clouds. The sun will be filtered through the clouds and that will not allow us to warm up too much. At the same time a weak and dry cold front will move through town. This will also prevent us from warming up too much. High temperatures will be in the lower 60s.
Some clouds will linger over Southeast Louisiana tonight and that will make it partly cloudy. We will still be chilly with low temperatures in the upper 30s to lower 40s.
Weekend & Super Bowl Forecast: There are a lot of Mardi Gras Parades and even the Super Bowl this weekend! Fortunately, the weather is going to be perfect for any events going on! A weak disturbance will slide across Louisiana on Saturday into Saturday Night. This will increase the clouds making it partly to mostly cloudy. A few sprinkles are possible, but many of you will not see any rain. The best chance would be up in Mississippi. It will be a little warmer on Saturday with highs in the upper 60s. Saturday Night will be mostly cloudy with lows in the upper 40s.
The disturbance will be east of Louisiana on Sunday and we will become partly cloudy. It will be mild with highs in the upper 60s and chilly at night with lows in the lower 40s. Needless to say this will be fantastic for all of the Super Bowl festivities going on in New Orleans!
Next Week Outlook: Monday will be just like Sunday with partly cloudy skies, but we will have southerly winds pumping in warmer air. Highs will be around 70 and lows in the lower 50s on Monday Night.
Another cold front is forecast to move through Baton Rouge on Tuesday and Wednesday. This will tap into the Gulf Moisture and set off showers and a few thunderstorms on Tuesday. The rain will come to an end on Wednesday as the front moves east of Louisiana. Highs will be in the lower 70s each day. Lows will be in the upper 40s to lower 50s each night.
High pressure will build over the Southeast quickly on Thursday and Friday with some mostly sunny skies each day. Highs will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s and lows will be in the upper 40s.
Take a jacket today and have a great weekend! -Dave
