Nothing like working on a vacation day, thanks Bowl Season.  But that's the life I signed up for, so you'll only hear me complain for a couple more sentences.

It looks like LSU is still having problems with clock management.  For the past three interview sessions the media has waited outside in the rain for an extra 50 minutes last Thursday, an extra 45 minute in the cold on Saturday and an extra 40 minutes tonight while the team finished it's practice sessions.  Glad tidings to you too this Christmas Season.

NOW that my Scrooge moment is over, let me tell you something cool.  The media got it's first chance to meet and talk with new wide receiver coach Billy Gonzales.  First impressions are that he's a pretty energetic guy who's on top of it, and it's easy to see why coach Les Miles wanted him on board.  Gonzales talked about working along side offensive coordinator Gary Crowton and offensive line coach Greg Studrawa in previous jobs, and keeping a working relationship with several of the other coaches during his time in college ball.

Gonzales made it a point, on numerous times, that he's not here to take over for Crowton, instead he's there to help Crowton with organization as well as play selection.  As the new passing game coordinator, Gonzales has already helped the receivers and quarterbacks with their timing.  Quarterback Jordan Jefferson said that in 7 on 7 drills the receivers and quarterback have been working at an 80% completion rate, clearly an increase from previous rates, if Jefferson's tone was any indicator.

Gonzales also said he's made sure that his receivers are getting off on the right foot, literally.  Gonzales has shuffled the corps footwork to help them get off the line faster and run their routes better.  Jefferson noted it has shown in practice.

It's clear the fresh face and attitude has already made an impact on the Tigers, now given another week and a half, possibly it can make a difference in the teams bowl performance.

it would be a great present to open up the new year with.  Speaking of presents, here's wishing you and yours a great Christmas morning filled with joy and smiles.
