
Short Term: We have another chilly start to the day, but there are a few clouds popping up this morning. The temperatures are not as cold as yesterday morning as they sit in the upper 30s to lower 40s.
This afternoon will not be as beautiful as the last few have been. East to southeast winds will begin to usher in Gulf Moisture, and that will lead to clouds increasing throughout the day. It will become pretty mild and more humid too. High temperatures will be in the upper 60s.
The sky will be mostly cloudy tonight, and we could see a few showers pop-up by sunrise. It will not be as cold because of the cloud cover. Low temperatures will fall to the lower 50s.
Friday & The Weekend: The strong cold front will move into and through the Baton Rouge area tomorrow. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will form ahead and along the front. The atmosphere will become a little unstable, but not like it was last week. It will be a warm and humid day, and the storms will feed off of that.
Some of the storms could become strong to severe, but severe weather is not going to be widespread. The main threats would be damaging winds, small hail and heavy rain. Rainfall totals could be around 1 to 2 inches, so some minor flooding will be possible. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) is watching our area for the chance of the strong storms. High temperatures will be in the upper 60s before the front moves through, then they will quickly fall through the 50s during the afternoon and evening as the cold front moves to the east of Louisiana.
There will still be mostly cloudy skies with a few light showers or drizzle on Friday night. It will become much colder with lows in the upper 30s.
An area of high pressure will move in just to the north of Louisiana on Saturday. This will clear out the clouds and rain making it mostly sunny. It will also keep it MUCH COLDER than it has been! High temperatures will only rise to the upper 40s. It will be pretty cold on Saturday night with clear skies and lows in the lower 30s. A light freeze can be expected.
We will have plenty of sunshine on Sunday, and it will be a little "warmer." High temperatures will be in the lower 50s. It will be mostly clear and chilly on Sunday night with lows in the lower 30s. Once again, a light freeze will be possible.
Next Week Outlook: Forecasts are calling for an unsettled weather pattern to greet us throughout the week. We will see showers Monday and Tuesday as an area of low pressure moves out of Texas toward Louisiana. A dry day is expected on Wednesday, before more wet weather will return on Thursday and Friday. High temperatures will be in the lower 60s and lows in the mid 40s all week long.
