Short Term Forecast: It is a very mild start to the day with temperatures in the upper 50s to lower 60s under mostly cloudy skies. Patchy fog has also been reported around town. Watch out for some low visibilities!
We will continue to have the very unseasonably warm weather today as an area of high pressure sits off to the east of Louisiana. We have southerly winds pumping in the warm and humid air from the Gulf. We will have a mix of sun and clouds today with highs in the upper 70s.
Another mild night is on tap with mostly cloudy skies and patchy fog. Low temperatures will only fall to the lower 60s.
Week Ahead: The weather will start to change on Tuesday. A strong cold front will move toward Louisiana during the day. We will have partly to mostly cloudy skies ahead of it with some isolated showers popping up. It will stay very warm and humid with highs in the upper 70s.
Tuesday Night will likely have some rough weather. The cold front will move into and through Baton Rouge spreading scattered showers and thunderstorms. A squall line of thunderstorms is forecast to develop and move through town by early on Wednesday Morning. Some of the storms could be strong to severe. SPC has part our area in a Slight Risk for severe weather. The main threat will be damaging winds, but a few tornadoes are also possible. Lows will be in the lower 60s.
The cold front will move through Baton Rouge by midday on Wednesday. That will put an end to the rain/storms and we will become partly cloudy. High temperatures will be reached early in the day as they climb to around 70 and then they will fall through the afternoon into the 50s. Wednesday Night will be mostly clear and MUCH COLDER with lows in the upper 30s.
High pressure will build over the area on Thursday and Friday. This will make it sunny and much cooler. Highs will be in the lower 60s and lows in the mid to upper 30s.
Weekend Outlook: The area of high pressure will remain over the Southeast U.S. all weekend. This will continue to bring us nice weather with partly cloudy skies each day. Highs will be in the mid to upper 60s and lows in the lower to mid 40s.
